An Encouraging Word
Justification in Christ
I don’t know about you, but the scripture, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief,” has critical meaning for me. I didn’t believe big enough for years. I used to skip over every scripture that talked about my righteousness in Christ … that I was holy, blameless and without a single fault … that I was a joint heir with Christ. No way could that stuff be true for me. Right?
Wrong! Today, there are three critical Belief points for me:
- I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior because He is who He says He is.
- I believe that I am who God says I am because I am cleansed by the blood of Christ.
- I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform me more and more into Christlikeness.
Without believing all three of these, the father of all lies gets to rent space in my head.
Satan accuses me day & night, trying to secure a foothold in my life. Yet, Christ Jesus advocates on my behalf, and the Father sees me as holy, blameless & without a single fault. (Revelation 12:10, Ephesians 4:27, 1 John 2:1, Colossians 1:22)
There is no doubt that I stub my spiritual toe daily and grieve the Holy Spirit. But, at least now I truly believe that the Father is not up in heaven condemning me every single time I do. The blood of Christ justifies me once and for all with the Father.
It’s like this: Imagine two large grease boards up in heaven. One has Jesus name at the top of it. The other has my name at the top. Jesus’ grease board is pristine perfect. Mine has millions of individual sins listed under my name. The moment I accept the blood, my name is erased from my grease board and Jesus name is written above all my sins. And, crazily, my name is now put at the top of the pristine perfect grease board. What grace! What mercy!! What manner of love is this?!?!?!
Thank you, Father, for loving me from everlasting to everlasting. Thank you, Jesus, for cleansing me with your blood. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for the supernatural work you’ve already done, are doing and will continue to do to transform me inside out.
